The tenth anniversary of the block brought yet another retool, relocating the Framing Device to a jungle planet with a new incarnation of TOM and several other new Robot Buddies; fans widely think of this version's cast as largely inferior to the previous versions of TOM and Sara. In other words: 4. Well.. was, anyway. Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Toonami was pretty good at averting this, and seeing as most blocks don't bother with continuity at all, that's fairly impressive. Swayzak from Trapped In Hyperspace hasn't been seen since Episode 4 of that event, excluding a cameo in the Rez review. It got so bad that, halfway through the show's run, FUNimation started rewriting the dialogue so that Toonami wouldn't have to bleep out a swear word every five seconds. Black Lagoon is also this, considering how many times the F- bomb alone is dropped per episode. It featured stories based on the Cartoon Roulette with Moltar commenting in between them. The Intruder II had a webcomic that helped set- up the event. Content Warnings: The new Toonami begins with displaying one of these. To put it into deeper perspective, we're talking about a block that censored most of its mature viewer- oriented programming because it used to be on when the youngsters were still awake, and parents could get pissy about the content. Let's say the content warning is more of an excuse to avoid a Lighter and Softer image. Animated Game of Thrones Prequel Tackles the Mystery of the Doom of Valyria. Game of Thrones will be over in two seasons, but HBO is already peering around the corner for what’s next. The network is working on at least four spinoffs, with George R. R. Martin pitching in on a couple of them. We have no clue what they’ll be about yet (although Dunk & Egg seems like a shoo- in), but one animated video is making a case for one of A Song of Ice and Fire’s most mysterious tales: The Doom of Valyria. Patrick Mc. Carthy recently shared a 2. Doom of Valyria series, which dives into the history of the Valyrian Freehold, the Targaryens, and what led to the downfall of one of the realm’s greatest civilizations. Given the story’s inspiration is the Fall of Rome, Doom of Valyria leans heavily into Greek and Roman design, highlighting the strong parallels between the two tales. The episode centers around Gaemon and Daenys, a Targaryen brother and sister who are about to be married. In this version of the story, this is the first high incestuous marriage in the Freehold, causing some conflicts and controversy. There are also rumors that Valyrian slaves working in the mines are starting to get aggressive, leading people to fear that they might revolt. I won’t spoil what happens, but the episode ends on a cliffhanger that indicates Doom for the Valyrian Freehold. Mc. Carthy, known for his Stewie Potter You. Tube series, wrote that it took him two years to create the video and hopes that it might inspire HBO’s next series. That likely won’t happen, but it’s great to see someone tackling one of my favorite mysteries in A Song of Ice and Fire. Check out the video below..
